About Us

Dr. Kris Barnsfather grew up in many different states including Colorado, California, Florida, and Minnesota.  After graduating from Smoky Hill High School in Aurora, Colorado with scholarships and honors, she received her Bachelor’s degree in mathematics from Hanover College in Hanover, Indiana.  She enjoyed teaching high school mathematics for seven years.  Dr. Barnsfather had been interested in medicine and the human body (and how it works, or doesn’t!) since childhood and finally made the switch into the medical field in 1998.

She earned her Medical Doctorate in Louisville, Kentucky at the University of Louisville School of Medicine and was awarded the Reproductive Endocrinology and Infertility Award.  Her OB/GYN internship and residency were completed in Indianapolis, Indiana.  She again earned awards including the Top Gun laparoscopic surgery award.

After residency Dr Barnsfather moved to Kingwood with her son and husband.  She worked in the area with Her Healthcare from 2006 until 2010 and is anxious to continue serving the community with Advanced Women’s Healthcare.  She is very involved in teaching women about their health and how to prevent disease.  She keeps up with the current trends and data and is always striving to offer the most advanced and least invasive therapies as well as the tried and true.

Dr. Joseph Petty grew up in Greenville Texas. After an early graduation from high school, he moved to Beaumont, where he attended Lamar University and fell in love with medicine and caring for patients. Between classes, he spent much of his time as a volunteer in a local hospital's emergency room, cardiac unit and physical therapy rehab. He graduated Summa Cum Laude in 2000.

He then earned his Doctorate of Medicine from the University of Texas Medical School at Houston in 2006. During his clinical rotations, his interest in women's healthcare developed, and he went on to complete his residency in Obstetrics and Gynecology at the Texas Tech Health Sciences Center in Lubbock in June of 2010. As a Resident, Dr. Petty served as Vice President of the house staff at University Medical Center hospital for 2009-2010. He was elected by his colleagues during his senior year to serve as Administrative Chief Resident for the Department of Ob/Gyn.   During his training, he was awarded Resident of the Month and Safe Surgeon of the Month on more than one occasion.  Upon graduation, he also received several awards, including the Excellence in Gynecologic Surgery from the Ob/Gyn department.

Today, Dr. Petty is happy to offer a full array of women's services, including obstetrical care, surgical skills in hysterectomy and minimally invasive procedures such as laparoscopy and endometrial ablation, and well-woman care for adults of all ages. His first practice was in Denton, Texas from 2010 until he joined Advanced Women's Healthcare with Dr. Barnsfather in 2012.
In his downtime, he enjoys time with his wife and two sons. Dr. Petty believes in treating each patient as if they were his own family and would love to be a part of your family's story.
